Law 19,886 regulates the procurement of goods and services of 850 institutions of the State administration, including ministries, intendancies, municipalities, public hospitals, armed forces, state universities, decentralized public services, and the Comptroller General of the Republic, among others. Each of these agencies is responsible for its bidding processes, which must be carried out through the platform Mercado Público, managed by the ChileCompra Directorate.
Public companies are excluded from this law so they are not obliged to use Mercado Público, and so their data is not being published by this portal.
The armed forces must procure everything through Mercado Público except for war material. Agencies executing public works (Ministry of Public Works, Ministry of Housing, and Urbanism) are obliged to procure everything through Mercado Publico except for public works.
All procurement methods but “Compra ágil” are published in their OCDS API: Licitación (tender), Trato Directo (direct negotiation), and Convenio Marco (framework agreement). Licitación has data from 2009, while the Framework Agreements and Direct Negotiation have data from 2019.
However, their API is slow (it can take more than a month to download all the available data), so we only download data from 2022 onwards.

A contracting process has several stages: tendering, awarding, contracting and implementation. You can learn about the contracting stages in this tutorial.
The dataset has quality issues to take into account, notably:
Some awards have multiple suppliers, but a single contract is associated with the award. As such, it isn’t possible to determine the awarded value and items for each supplier.

Access data
This OCDS dataset is available for download in JSON, Excel or CSV format. You can download the data for contracting processes in a specific year or for all time.
JSON
Each contracting process is represented as one line of JSON text in the .jsonl file.
The .jsonl file is compressed using Gzip. Windows users need 7-Zip, WinRAR or WinZip to decompress the .gz file.
