PPIP is designed to publish contract awards and tender notices as per Executive Order No. 2 of 2018, which requires all procurement entities to disclose public procurement and asset disposal information through the portal. PPIP aims to enhance accountability and transparency in public procurement and asset disposal, aligning with Article 227 of the Constitution of Kenya, which mandates a fair, equitable, transparent, competitive, and cost-effective system.
The dataset includes procurement data from all public buyers across both National and County Governments without exclusions, except for classified procurements made by national security agencies. Procurement data covers all procurement methods and categories. Updates to the data are made on a daily basis.
A contracting process has several stages: tendering, awarding, contracting and implementation. You can learn about the contracting stages in this tutorial.

Data quality
The dataset has quality issues to take into account, notably:
The data includes empty array for awards and contracts
The total value of the top 1% of the fields contracts/value/amount and awards/value/amount is more than that of the remaining values, indicating the presence of extreme outliers in those fields.
An invalid organizational identifier scheme is provided for suppliers
No organizational identifier scheme is provided for buyers
The parties array is missing the names of some buyers and suppliers. The corresponding names can be found in the buyer.name and awards.supplier.name fields.

Access data
This OCDS dataset is available for download in JSON, Excel or CSV format. You can download the data for contracting processes in a specific year or for all time.
JSON
Each contracting process is represented as one line of JSON text in the .jsonl file.
The .jsonl file is compressed using Gzip. Windows users need 7-Zip, WinRAR or WinZip to decompress the .gz file.
